Club History

The Papillon Association of Puget Sound, (PAPS) was formed in 1986 by a small group of
dedicated Seattle-area Papillon fanciers. After electing Officers and writing the Constitution &
By-Laws, the AKC was contacted and the long road to gaining approval was begun. Along the way
to becoming a full-fledged dog club, PAPS held conformation/obedience matches, eye clinics,
raffles and other fund raisers. In 1993 we finally completed the requirements and became an
AKC licensed club. Our first independent Specialty was held in 1993 and continues to be held
mid-August of every year in Enumclaw, WA at the Enumclaw Expo Center.

PAPS has grown over the years to include members from Washington, Alaska, Oregon, and
Canada. The total entry for our Specialty has also grown every year, and PAPS now has the
distinction of hosting one of the largest independent Papillon specialties in the country.

All of this has come about through the hard work of our members and their dedication to
promoting and protecting this wonderful breed!
